Custom handle — made to your measurements, fit it yourself

Price

€19.90

“Your hand does not change shape to suit a racquet.”

The handle is the only part of a racquet you actually touch, and it is the one part nobody fits to you. Retail frames come in whole sizes and one length, and from there you adapt. This one works the other way round: your size, your length, made for the frame you already play with.

Your exact grip size. Half sizes included, and the ones in between. No stack of overgrips to fake a size that was never made, and no pallet sanded down to lose one.

Your exact length. From 26 to 28 inches, in quarter-inch steps. A quarter of an inch is worth about nine swingweight points and changes the leverage you have on the ball — the one dimension a retail frame never lets you choose.

It fits any racquet. Any brand, any mould, junior or adult. Tell us which frame it is for in the comment box when you order.

It opens at the butt. Mass goes in and comes out later to move balance, recoilweight and MGR/I without touching swingweight, so tuning stays open long after the handle is on.

You fit it yourself. This page is the handle on its own, at €19.90, sent to you. The old pallet has to come off and the new handle bonded on. If you would rather not do that part, we fit it at the workshop for €39.90, handle included.

Your size, not the nearest size

Grip sizes are sold in whole steps, so most players end up on the nearest one and correct it with overgrips or by sanding a pallet. Both work, and both change the shape as well as the size. Here you give the size you want, half steps included — and if you sit between two, say so in the comment box.

Length, and what it actually changes

From 26 to 28 inches in quarter-inch steps. A quarter of an inch moves the swingweight by about nine points and changes the leverage you have on the ball: longer reaches further and weighs more in the swing, shorter comes round faster. It is the one dimension a retail frame never lets you choose, and the one most worth choosing.

Tuning stays open

The butt opens, so mass can go in later. Eight grams of tuning putty in the butt move the balance half a centimetre and the recoilweight three points, and leave the swingweight where it was. You are not committing to a setup today: you are keeping the door open.

Handle alone, or fitted at the workshop

Handle alone — €19.90. This page. Made to your measurements and sent to you; you take the old pallet off and bond the new one on.

Fitted at the workshop — €39.90, handle included. You send the racquet to Normandy and it comes back assembled and ready to string. Return shipping is charged on top.

On a Matcheur frame the custom handle is included in the price of the frame — there is nothing to order here.
