A racquet is set aside long before it is worn out. What goes first is the paint, the graphics and the date on the model — the carbon structure holds. Repainting a frame is not a cosmetic whim, then: it is what keeps it in play. A Matcheur frame gets repainted; it does not get replaced.
The design is yours. Send a sketch, even a rough one, through the site chat — before you order. We tell you what is feasible, on which areas, and which combination to order. The design is then worked up in the workshop and laid onto the real geometry of your frame, which is not the geometry of a sketch: you approve that rendering before any paint is laid.
What sets the price. Two things, and they combine: the number of distinct colours, and the number of areas to detail. A detailed area is a surface that needs masking of its own — a tip line, a hairpin treated separately, a fade, a name. A single-colour matt finish with no detailing is the entry point; a multi-colour with six areas is the other end.
What the frame goes through. The grip and the buttcap come off, they are not masked. The grommets are inspected while the frame is bare — it is the moment you actually see them. The racquet is weighed before and after: paint adds a few grams, and those grams are put back into the setup rather than simply absorbed.
What a paintjob does not change. The way the racquet plays. Balance, swingweight and stiffness come back to where they were. This is surface work, and we say so: if the frame is cracked, it needs a repair first, and that is ordered separately.
How it works. Send the sketch, we agree on the combination together, then you order and ship the racquet to the workshop, in Normandy — the shipping details go out with your order confirmation. Allow two weeks from the day the frame arrives.
Quantity
Matt or gloss
Two lacquer finishes, the same durability. Matt absorbs light and shows marks of use less; gloss brings depth back to the colours and cleans more easily. It is a choice of eye, not of resistance. Matcheur frames leave the workshop in gloss black with no graphics.
Counting the areas
One colour laid over the whole frame does not count as an area. An area is a surface that needs its own masking: tip, hairpin, bridge, edge, handle, lettering. That is exactly why the sketch comes before the order — we tell you the combination, you do not have to guess it.
Paint, repair and setup
Three separate passes, which stack on the same frame and in the same shipment. A crack is repaired before it is painted. A repainted frame comes back at the values it had, weighing included — that is in the price. Bringing it to values other than its own is the customisation service, ordered separately. Say so with your order: the racquet makes one round trip.
A frame is painted unstrung, and it comes back unstrung: add stringing to the same order and it returns ready to play.

The racquet goes to the workshop, in Normandy; the shipping details go out with your order confirmation. Allow two weeks from the day the frame arrives and the design is approved. If you are combining a repair or a setup with the paintjob, tell us when you order and we will give you the lead time for the whole job.
